Continental’s DoubleFighter features a tread pattern designed with a shallow raised friction-pattern in the tread centre for fast rolling performance, and aggressive outer lugs for predictable cornering traction. The Double Fighter basic version which had a retail price of £12.95 is now no longer available

The original semi-slick design has a light file tread with widely spaced lateral tread (think backgammon board) and small side knobs. Very fast rolling and has slightly more straightline grip than a pure slick. No steering grip though so you’ll need to lean hard and early to make the corners. Lack of mud clogging makes it more useable than you’d expect in intermediate conditions but while the carcass is fairly supple, it squirms at low pressure. The dual compound version sticks to rocks well but wears fast, so we reckon this basic version is excellent value.
